Hair straighteners: must hair be clean?

Can hair straighteners be used no matter what products are already in the hair? Can I straighten it, use a product (hair spray or a wax or whatever), go to sleep at the end of the day and straighten again without prior washing? Would it affect the heating plate things?

no it doesnt have to be totally clean, but it will make styling easier if it is. and yur hair will look and feel better when its clean.

and you never want to straighten hair with a whole bunch of gel or hairspray caked in it because it makes your hair break off.

so i recommend washing it at night, letting it dry, and then straightening it in the morning and putting products on it to keep the style in place.

It is ok to use straigtheners at any point, no matter if your hair has just been washed and dried or not. However, I would stick to using little product (apart from a heat protector) as it can cause sticky gunky stuff to form on the ceramic plates of your straighteners.

It wouldn't affect it TOO bad. But, you need to make sure it's not horribly wet. It could mess it up. Mine has done it before and it broke completely. But, it was one of those that you buy for $20 at Wal-Mart. :P

Your hair doesn't have to be clean. Just make sure you don't have a lot of product in it and that the plates on your straightener are clean and free of build-up.

All of those wedding hair models? Unwashed hair...that's how you get the best results for updos.Mind you,most don't have product already in it. Doesn't matter, it doesn't hurt the plates on the straightener..they need cleaning once in awhile anyways.

i guess, but i wash my hair at night then i put some heat protectant on, then in the morning i straighten it spray sections after im dont with them so it stays

try herbal esssences dangeriously straight spray and shampoo and conditioner
