Do thermal protectors for hair work?

before blowdrying my hair i use a thermal protector spray but as i have long hair and use it regularly they are quite expensive, are they worth the investment? do they actualy work, if they do, to what extent and how?

Do thermal protectors for hair work?

thermal protectors help keep the heat from frying your hair and really drying it out... if you do not use a blow dryer or flat iron every time you wash your hair then no, your don't really need it, but if you do blow dry all of the time then you really should use it because it is protecting your hair from damage from the heat...

lets put it this way, if you were to blow dry your hair everyday and don't use the protector, your hair will be dried out in about 2-3 months, depending on how healthy your hair is, if you put a lot of chemicals on it it will dry out quicker... whenever i dry my hair i put a protector on it, it just keeps it healthier... i would say they are worth the investment......

I used to use thermal hair protection when I used irons...I actually found that leave in conditioner was better and cheaper than the thermal protectors. If you really want to use a protector though the only one I found to be any good was the avon one...the really expensive GHD one's made my hair sticky and in need of a wash the next day.

i've used them, and i don't think they work because my hair seems to be in the same condition as it was before i used the thermal protector...

just use a good conditioner, and a conditioning treatment once a week.

You do need some protection on your hair when using heated appliances,

after all, you wouldnt sunbathe without cream on would you?

But you dont nescessarily need a thermal spray.

Leave in conditioners can work, but they can be too much for some hair types.

Try and let your hair dry naturally as much as poss, and when you do use a hairdryer, use it on a cooler setting.

When straightening, you can use a special spray or cream, serum, leave in conditioner or even hairspray to protect the hair.

Ever seen smoke come off your hair when you straighten?

Thats the moisture coming out your hair - if you coat it with one of the above, then the straighteners just burn off the product, although hairspray will clog your straighteners up.

Try lots of different things, for at least a month, and see which one suits you best.
