Cleansing your hair of buildup...?

I use a lot of hair products, hair spray, leave in conditioner, straighten serums etc...I was recently told by a friend that washing your hair alone doesn't rid your hair of all that build up. Is this true? If so, how do you cleanse your hair of buildup and how often should you do this? I'd rather try some natural rememdies if there is any

You can use a clarifying shampoo - Neutrogena used to make one, and I know Suave makes one. If you can, use it at least once a week without also using conditioner.

From personal experience, I do this and also sometimes use a children's/baby shampoo (less chemicals) without conditioner. I do it on the weekends or on a day when I know I'm not going to do much in terms of styling my hair.

It depends on how good you wash your hair. I have tons of buildup because I use mousse and hairspray and sometimes gel everyday. The way I get it all out is that when I'm in the shower, I massage my scalp with my finger tips. Once or twice a week I shampoo and massage twice just to make sure. My aunt is a beautician so you can trust this advice.

Shampoo with Tea Tree. The best is made by Paul M.

No, it's not true. Shampooing your hair twice, removes all the product buildup. The first shampooing removes all the buildup %26amp; the second shampooing cleanses the hair.

Baking Soda works well. Wet your hair and rub about 2 tablespoons of baking soda through your hair for a minute and rinse. Then shampoo. Clarifying shampoos also work well. I like Rusk brand.

Suave has a clarifying shampoo, or you can try adding a tablespoon of baking soda to the shampoo in the palm of your hand before putting it on your hair. That should do the trick. Good luck!

when washing your hair just sprinkle the water on your hair a bit rub in the shampoo and rinse by doing a dry shampoo it will grab the products better to remove but shampoo your hair 2-3 times when washing it and conditioning it and do this when every your hair is greasy.try getting a cleansing shampoo and using that for the 1st shampoo then a conditioning shampoo for the 2nd gud luck

Make a paste of water and baking soda work it into your hair and shampoo out.

Also, swim or clairyfing shampoo. They will strip your hair of all buildup, but don't use it more than once a week.

I listened to a hair care specialist who works with the stars on tv and he said alot of people think you need to use expensive shampoos, etc. and the more suds the better. He said this is not so. He said to just use the amount in your hand the size of a dime and it doesn't even have to suds alot to clean your hair. I don't think it's necessary to use special product to get out hair spray. I'd just shampoo, rinse and shampoo and rinse again like most bottles suggest. You will probablly laugh but lately I've been using Avon's fusions body wash on myhair and Avon's Intense condition treatment and my hair has never felt or looked better.
